30 years of Yoga Practice and Teaching

Past:

Hilary discovered yoga when she was 30 years old and in need of something to centre her life at that time. She was totally "hooked" after her very first yoga lesson where her mind finally stilled after a few simple breathing techniques and postures. The yoga teacher, a Swiss lady, Swami Omkarananda, gave Hilary much needed spiritual guidance at that time. Hilary embarked upon an intensive period of self-development where hatha yoga, meditation, and application of yoga philosophy in her hospital or teaching work, became her life's pillars.

In 1990, after studying yoga for 7 years in Switzerland, England and India, particularly with Swami Chidananda of Sivananda Ashram, Rishikesh, Hilary was awarded the Diploma of the Fédération Suisse de Yoga - Yoga Suisse as it is now called (www.yogasuisse.ch).

Present:

Now she teaches a blend of deep relaxation, breathing, postures and meditation according to the needs of her pupils in each lesson. She receives as much from their response to their yoga class as they do from her lessons. Her weekly yoga classes, with adults or adolescents, have always been the highlight of her week. Now that she is retired from her school teaching career as a Learning Support Specialist, she can respond to the yogic needs of more people whatever their ages.
